(Owensboro, KY – Southern Star Central Gas Pipeline, Inc.) – Southern Star’s team-led nonprofit organization, Southern Star Cares, announces the kickoff of the 2025 campaign. Grant applications from local nonprofit organizations will be accepted starting on Monday, August 11. 

Any tax-exempt, 501(c)3 organization serving Daviess County, Kentucky, is eligible to apply. Grants will be awarded in three tiers: $2,500-10,000, $10,000-25,000, and $25,000-50,000. The application link, along with more information about the process, is available at southernstarcares.org. The application link will be available on August 11.  

Southern Star Cares’ grants are funded by team members’ contributions. More than $128,000 was awarded to grant winners in 2024. All the funds raised by Southern Star Cares go directly to grant recipients, with no administrative fees or deductions.

This year’s grant application period opens on Monday, August 11 and is open through Monday, September 8. Grant finalists will be announced the week of November 10, and grant recipients will be named the week of December 16. 

Grant recipients are chosen based on information provided in their applications, a review by the Southern Star Cares Board of Directors, team member focus groups, and finally a vote from employee donors who contributed to the Southern Star Cares fundraising campaign.
