Southern Star Cares awarded 2025 SGA Community Service Award

(Owensboro, KY – Southern Star Central Gas Pipeline, Inc.) – Southern Star Cares, our employee-led nonprofit organization, was recognized with the Southern Gas Association’s (SGA) Community Service Award at the SGA Operations Conference last week in Austin, TX.
The award recognized Southern Star Cares and its impact in our communities. Last year, Southern Star Cares awarded more than $128,000 to eight nonprofit organizations in Owensboro, KY and raised more than $186,000 for grant funding to be awarded this year. This year, the nonprofit program will also expand to encompass communities across the Southern Star system.
Shawn Patterson, Southern Star President & CEO, said he’s thankful for the team members and donors who’ve helped support Southern Star Cares.
“We’re honored to have Southern Star Cares recognized by the Southern Gas Association,” said Patterson. “This award is a reflection of the commitment and passion our Southern Star team brings to serving our communities every day.”
Heather Clark, Procurement Specialist in Owensboro, KY and Southern Star Cares Board President, said she is grateful for the hard work of so many team members to make Southern Star Cares a success.
I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to witness the positive impact we’ve made and to hear firsthand from local organizations about the remarkable work they’re doing in our communities,” said Clark. “I’m excited to see Southern Star Cares continue to grow and make a lasting difference in the years ahead.”
