Southern Star honored for supporting student robotics
Two school robotics programs recently honored Southern Star for supporting their students throughout the year.
Owensboro Innovation Academy, a middle school located near our corporate headquarters in Owensboro, Kentucky, awarded our company “Community Partner of the Year” for sponsoring the program, volunteering time at tournaments, and providing resources for student success.
Blackwell Middle School, located near one of our stations in Blackwell, Oklahoma, presented Southern Star with a similar honor, the “VEX IQ Robotics Volunteer of the Year” award.
It’s been a rewarding experience for our staff to become involved. The kids shared excitement teaching our employees how the robots are built, operated, and the rules of a match. The object of the game is to collect more points than the opposing team by winning scoring caps, toggling flags, and parking the robot on special platforms on the field.
Our company is committed to promoting youth, arts, science and technology! We wish both robotics programs much success!
