Southern Star Cares announces 2023 grant finalists

(Owensboro, KY – Southern Star Central Gas Pipeline, Inc.) – Southern Star Cares is excited to announce finalists for its 2023 grant program.

Congratulations to the following organizations for advancing to the final stage!

Tier 1 – $2,500-10,000

Western Kentucky Regional Blood Center
Methodist Home of Kentucky
H.L. Neblett Community Center

Tier 2 – $10,000-25,000

Senior Community Center of Owensboro-Daviess County
Owensboro Area Shelter Information and Services – OASIS
Goodfellows Club of Owensboro

Tier 3 – $25,000-50,000

My Sister’s Keeper
Family Y of Owensboro-Daviess County
Wendell Foster Campus for Developmental Disabilities

Grant recipients will be named the week of December 11. Recipients will be chosen based on the information provided on their applications, a review by the Southern Star Cares Board of Directors, team member focus groups, and a vote from employee donors who contributed to the organizations’ fundraising campaign.

Southern Star Cares’ grants are funded from team members’ contributions. During its inaugural fundraising campaign in 2022, team members pledged more than $100,000, which was collected to fund the nonprofit throughout 2023. All funds raised by Southern Star Cares go to grant recipients, with no administrative fees or deductions.

This year’s grant application period was held from August 23 to September 20. Any tax-exempt, 501(c)3 organization serving Daviess County, Kentucky, was eligible to apply.

The board of directors, focus groups, and donors are committed to aligning the applicants’ funding needs with Southern Star Cares’ values, community impact, and available grant dollars.
