Southern Star celebrates service anniversary and community partnership

Southern Star Central Gas Pipeline recently celebrated the five-year service anniversary for one of our team members, Colin Powers, Business Associate in Owensboro, KY at our headquarters in Owensboro.

Colin Powers first joined our team in August 2019 through a partnership with Green River Area Down Syndrome Association (GRADSA). Several community members joined our team for the celebration, including representatives from GRADSA, Puzzle Pieces, and Owensboro Mayor Tom Watson.

Shawn Patterson, President & CEO of Southern Star, said it’s been a privilege to work alongside Powers the past five years.

“Colin is a shining example of how diverse talents and perspectives can drive a company forward,” Patterson said. “I look forward to talking with Colin every day, and we are grateful for the invaluable contribution and joy he brings to our team.”

Josh Komarek, Manager, Information Governance in Owensboro, has worked closely with Powers since he joined Southern Star.

“It’s been amazing to see Colin’s growth over the past five years,” Komarek said. “Seeing him take on more responsibilities every year and develop professionally has been really rewarding.”

Mayor Watson presented Powers with the Mayor’s Award of Distinction in recognition of “outstanding achievement.” Community members and Southern Star team members took a moment to congratulate Colin on his hard work and celebrate his growth and development as a member of our team.
